About Stuttgart
Stuttgart is a large city of transport, business and manufacturing, founded in the 10th century in the south-west of Germany, in the Land of Baden-Württemberg. The city is located on the Nekar River, on hills and valleys, which are overgrown with vineyards where local wine is produced. Today, Stuttgart is best known as a business and automotive city, where business from such well-known companies as Bosch, Daimler AG, Mercedes Benz, Porsche is concentrated. In addition, Porsche and Mercedes-Benz have established museums in Stuttgart and you can find here exhibits from the first car inventions to the latest car models.
Stuttgart is a beautiful, neat city where old architecture can be seen – the Old Castle (dating back to the X century), the New Palace (late Baroque building from the 18th century), the Castle of Solitude (the 18th century), St. John’s Church (19th century Gothic) standing in the middle of Lake Feursee. Moreover, it is fun to explore the first residential area of Stuttgart, Bohnenviertel (15th century cozy district with antique shops and cafes), Stuttgart and Hohenheim Universities (established in the early 19th century), Wurttemberg Library and more. The most famous museums in Stuttgart are the Wurttemberg Land Museum, the State Gallery Stuttgart and the F. Schiller National Museum. If you like parks, be sure to visit the (50 ha) Killesberg Park. By the way, the Lichterfest Stuttgart Festival is held here in July, featuring multicolored lanterns and firework shows in the evening accompanied by music.
Be sure to check out the Königstraße, Calwerstraße or Theodor-Heuss-Straße for shopping, relaxation or dinner in Stuttgart. Most of the city’s restaurants and shops are located in and around these streets and there is a lively nightlife in the late evenings.
