About Venice
Venice is a city-port in north-eastern Italy. It is situated across a group of many small islands that are separated by canals and linked by more than 400 bridges. Access to the city is by water, so residents and tourists use boats for transportation.
Venice is a charming city famous for its annual Venice Carnival and architectural masterpieces. All architectural and historical monuments can be explored on foot or by the city’s canals. The main and largest canal in the city is the Grand Canal, which takes you to the most beautiful district of San Marco. Be sure to admire the 13th-18th century style architecture on the shores and the city’s most beautiful bridge, the Ponte de Rialto, along the way. In the San Marco district you will find most of the famous historical monuments such the Palazza Ducale, built for defensive purposes, and the Ponte de Sospiri bridge. Furthermore, here you will find the Piazza San Marco which is most beautiful square in the city and the Basilica di San Marco which is a masterpiece of Byzantine architecture. In addition, the basilica’s tower can offer wonderful panoramic views of the city. Moreover, we recommend wandering around Venice early in the morning, before it gets crowdy, to feel the beauty of the city.
For a day trip, we recommend choosing a trip to the islands of Murano, Burano and Torcello. The island of Murano is famous for its blown glass, Burano is famous for its handcrafted lace and colourful houses facades, and the island of Torcello is famous for its tranquillity and impressive 7th-century mosaics in the Cathedral of Santa Maria Dell’Assunta. On these islands you can buy interesting souvenirs and escape from the city crowds. For another day trip we suggest choosing the island of Lido di Venezia which has lots of greenery and a beautiful beach, however the island is not suitable for visiting during the winter season. While in Venice, be sure to try traditional Venetian dishes such as Sarde in saor (marinated fried sardine fillets), Mołeche (fried soft shell crabs), Pasta e faxioi (bean soup with noodles) or Bigołi in salsa (pasta served with an anchovy and onion sauce).

Weather in Venice is influenced by the Mediterranean Sea, therefore summers are hot and winters are mild. Average temperature vary from 0° C in winter up to 28° C in summer. The best time to visit Venice is from April to October.
When choosing travel dates to visit Venice you should take into account tourist peak season which is between June and August, therefore, you could save money and avoid crowds in the shoulder months of April, May or September, October.
