About Mauritius

Officially the Republic of Mauritius, is an island in the Indian Ocean. Situated about 2000 kilometres of the African continent, Mauritius comprises Rodrigues, Agalega, and St. Brandon islands.

The island is surrounded by more than 150 kilometres of crystal clear beaches with spectacular lagoons that are protected from an open sea by world’s third largest coral reef. Mauritius is famous for deep sea fishing, some of the well-known species include black marlin, yellow tuna, the Bonitos, the Emperor, etc. Apart from rich and varied sea life, Mauritius is globally known as a home to 40 uninhabited islands, some of them are used as natural reserves for endangered species.

The island offers a variety of things to see and do from enjoying fantastic beaches, turquoise lagoons, and cliffs, “sega” dancing or visiting Pamplemousses botanical garden and so much more!

Weather in Mauritius remains hot and humid year-round. Temperature averages are from 26°C in January up to 21°C in July. Therefore, rainfall should be most important factors when choosing travel dates. The best time to visit Mauritius is from May to December.

When choosing travel dates you should also take in to account tourist peak season which is from October to end of January. You could save money and avoid crowds on shoulder season from April to October.
