About Tel Aviv
Tel Aviv is an Israeli city-port on the west coast of the Mediterranean. It is a thriving city of thousands of years of history and modern Jewish culture, fashion, shopping and entertainment. It is a city rich with art galleries, museums, clubs, bars, great beaches and beautiful sea. The city is made up of Tel Aviv and Jaffa cities, which were merged into a single municipality in the mid-20th century. Today, these cities are joined by a long beach promenade stretching by the sea.
The city of Jaffa is a 4,000 year-old port known for its association with the history of Andromeda and Perseus, and the biblical heroes Solomon, John, and St. Peter. The most famous historical monuments in Old Jaffa are the Jaffa Tower with a Clock and St. Peter’s Church. Also it is worth visiting the Libyan synagogue, also known as the Beit Zunana, the former governor’s palace Saraya, the St. Nicholas Church, the Al Bahr and Mahmoudian Mosques. For a stroll, we recommend choosing the harbour area, where you can find restaurants serving fresh fish and seafood, or visit Jaffa Flea Market for antiques, shops or cafes, restaurants and bars.
Tel Aviv is an economic and technological hub of the country, although the beach and the sea are the main attractions, but the city is also rich in parks, wonderful architecture and attractions. There are many museums in Tel Aviv, such as the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, the Eretz Israel Museum and the Beit Hatfutsot Museum, which offer world-class artwork and fascinating history. If you love jewellery, visit the Diamond Exchange District which is the centre of the Israeli diamond industry. Here you can find many diamond companies, jewellery stores and showrooms. Furthermore, be sure to visit HaCarmel, the largest marketplace in the city, which is a unique place reflecting the city life and culture, or stroll along the coast in the Tayelet Promenade which is full of crowds, restaurants, bars and vibrant nightlife. In addition, between HaCarmel Market and Port of JAffa, you will discover the first Jewish residential area of Neve Tzedek with its small narrow streets, fashion boutiques, handicraft shops and outdoor cafes. Here you can relax after a day’s adventures and taste traditional Jewish dishes such as humus, shakshuka or falafel.
