Malaga is a port city and capital of the Province of Malaga. The city lies on the Costa del Sol of the Mediterranean, about 100 km east of the Strait of Gibraltar and is a part of the autonomous community of Andalusia. It was founded in late 8th century BC by Phoenicians as Malaka, thus making Malaga one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world and one of the oldest cities in Europe. Weather in Malaga is influenced by the Mediterranean Sea, therefore summers are hot and winters are mild. Average temperature vary from 8° C in winter up to 31° C in summer. The best time to visit Malaga is from April to November.
