If you want to get out of the city, you can visit the Risnjak National Park (50 km from Rijeka) with its many hiking trails, one of the most spectacular is the Leskos Trail. By the way, the city is known as the birthplace of torpedoes (water explosive charges) and on the Rijeka embankment you can find the remains of Tvornica’s Torpedo plant and the ramp from which the world’s first torpedo was launched. Most of the city’s shops, restaurants and cafes are situated in the Korzo street.
